Schedule & Coverage

Dates: December 19–29, 2025

Schedule: 24-hour call (7a–7a)

Rounding: Daily between 8:30–9:30 AM + afternoon rounds

Clinic: 2–3 days per week, 8a–4:30p (afternoons after rounds; mostly post-op visits with APPs handling initial workups)

Callbacks: Any hospital consults or emergencies outside of rounding/clinic hours

Job Description

Perform a wide range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including:

Coronary artery bypass surgery

Aortic and valvular surgery

Atrial fibrillation management procedures

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)

Endovascular aneurysm repair

Provide pre- and post-operative care in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team

Work closely with APPs, physicians, and hospital staff for comprehensive patient care

Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Completion of residency in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery (or integrated program)

Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery

Active or eligible Virginia license + unrestricted DEA

AHA certifications required

Proficiency in a wide range of cardiothoracic procedures (CABG, aortic, valvular, AFib management, minimally invasive techniques)

Strong clinical and interpersonal skills

Epic EMR experience
