Position Overview

A leading program in Philadelphia, PA is seeking 3 experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery APPs (NP or PA) to provide nocturnist coverage. This is an exciting locums opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled interdisciplinary team while managing complex cardiothoracic patients.

Responsibilities

Assessment & Management

Perform comprehensive H&Ps and document in the EMR

Order/interpret diagnostic tests and implement evidence-based interventions

Act as first responder for patient status changes, urgent procedures, and resuscitative care

Diagnosis

Collaborate with physicians and care teams on acute and chronic diagnoses

Formulate differential diagnoses, recognize complications, and order interventions

Plan of Care

Create, implement, and adjust individualized care plans

Prescribe diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions

Perform advanced procedures within scope and competency

Collaboration & Documentation

Communicate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure continuity of care

Complete timely documentation including H&Ps, daily progress notes, procedure notes, and discharges

Professional Practice

Serve as a mentor/preceptor as appropriate

Stay engaged in ongoing professional development, education, and evidence-based practice initiatives

Qualifications

Master’s Degree (NP or PA)

National Board Certification (Acute Care NP or PA-C)

BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred

Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery or critical care highly desirable

Schedule

Shift: Nocturnist, Nights (7p–7a)

Coverage: Scheduled + No Call

Start Date: January 5, 2026

Commitment: 3–8 months
