Locums – Cardiothoracic Surgery PA | Greenville, SC

Start Date: January 1, 2026
Contract Length: Ongoing
Coverage: Scheduled + On Call
Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00a – 2:00p (8-hour guarantee; OT after 8 hours daily)
Call: ~5% weekdays; ~75% weekends (primarily ER call)

Assignment Overview

Patient Population: Adults only

Practice Setting: 90% Hospital (Inpatient/Acute Care), 10% Clinic/Office

Caseload: Average 10 patients/day

5 admissions

5 ICU

4 surgeries

Support Team: 4 Cardiothoracic Surgeons + 7 Mid-Levels

EMR: Epic

Key Responsibilities

Vein harvesting and first assist on all open-heart cases

Suturing, pre-op and post-op surgical care

Inpatient rounding, ICU management, admissions, and consults

Call responsibilities (ER-focused, mostly weekends)

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in cardiothoracic surgery

Skills Required:

Vein harvesting

First assist in open-heart procedures

Suturing and surgical patient management

Board Certification: PA-C

Licensure: Active SC license required (or ability to obtain)
