Locum Tenens Interventional Radiologist – PRN Coverage | Oakland, California

This Interventional Radiology locum tenens opportunity is based at a busy trauma-designated medical center in Oakland, CA, offering diverse and high-acuity procedural experience in a well-supported environment. This role is ideal for Interventional Radiologists seeking flexible PRN scheduling while maintaining exposure to advanced trauma and emergent IR cases.

Opportunity Highlights

Schedule: PRN – coverage scheduled as needed

Shift Hours: 8 AM–5 PM day shift with 24-hour call extending to 8 AM the next morning

Patient Volume: Approximately 5–6 procedures per day

Call Frequency:

Weeknights – average 1 callback per week

Weekends – average 2 callbacks per weekend (both days)

Support Staff: Full team of RNs and technologists during the day; occasional overlap with another IR, though most shifts will be solo coverage

Assignment Type: On-site, PRN basis

Core IR procedures including:

Biopsies and drainages

Tunneled venous access

Level 1 trauma hemorrhage control

Occasional GI, GYN, and Urology emergencies

Average daily mix of trauma, inpatient, and emergency department consults

Technology & Workflow

EMR: Epic

Fully equipped IR suite with experienced nursing and technologist support

Integrated trauma and surgical collaboration across departments

Licensing & Requirements

Board Certification: BE/BC in Interventional Radiology

License: Active California medical license required
