Locum Tenens Opportunity – Cardiothoracic Surgery | Erie, PA

Job description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for locum coverage in Erie, Pennsylvania.. This is a 6-month approved assignment with strong potential to extend.

Position Details:
Specialty: Cardiothoracic Surgery
Location: Erie, PA
Facility Type: 347-bed hospital (non-trauma)
EMR: EPIC
Start Date: Upon completion of credentialing (6–8 weeks for clean files)

Schedule:
Weekly Commitment: 5 days/week
Call: 1:2 weeknight call + every other weekend
Weekend call includes rounding
Call rotation: Weekend provider takes Wed/Thurs call the following week; opposite provider covers Mon/Tues and Fri–Sun
Minimum Commitment: 2 weeks per month

Cases:
CABGs
Aortic/Mitral valve replacements/repairs
Ascending aortic root work
TAVRs
Routine lung/lobectomy
Mediastinoscopy

Daily Census:
10–12 inpatients
Up to 17 office patients

Certifications:
Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
ACLS/BLS (American Heart Association, in-person only)

Experience:
CT Surgery required
Robotic experience preferred but not required

Licensure:
Strong preference for PA-licensed candidates
Will consider IMLC candidates with Letter of Qualification in hand

Additional Info:
Rounding is supported by APPs and typically takes 4–5 hours/day
Privileging takes 6–8 weeks for clean files; any malpractice or background issues may require legal review and could affect eligibility
