Aya Locums is seeking a Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgeon for a 6-month locum tenens contract in Rockville, MD

This full-time role includes scheduled shifts and call coverage. The schedule features day, night, and weekend shifts, with call every other weeknight and every third weekend.

Position Highlights:

Start Date: February 2, 2026
Contract Length: 6 months
Practice Setting: Hospital
EMR: Cerner
Support staff and patient volume: Approx. 300 cases/year split between two surgeons
Clinical Scope: The ideal candidate will provide the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgical services and structural heart interventional care, including:

Complex CABG (on/off-pump, multi-arterial revascularization)
Minimally invasive valve repair/replacement
Transcatheter structural heart procedures
Arrhythmia surgery and catheter-based interventions
ECMO expertise
ICU patient management
Collaborative heart team decision-making
Requirements:

Board Certification: Required
State License: Required (Not willing to license)
DEA & CSR: Required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS
Experience: Prefer 5+ years
Department Focus: This role supports a high-acuity cardiac program with a focus on innovation and teamwork. Preferred candidates will have advanced training or a completed Structural Heart Fellowship and demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
