Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Start Date: January 30, 2026
Contract Length: Minimum 6 months (ongoing need possible)
Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours + Call
Schedule:

Weekday shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Call: 24-hour call (not in-house)

Weekend & holiday rounding required

Preference for 1 weekday call and 1 weekend call (Friday–Sunday)

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to support a high-acuity Cardiothoracic Surgery service across multiple nearby hospital locations. The APP will provide operative first-assist coverage, manage ICU and step-down patients, and participate in call coverage.

Clinical Responsibilities

First and second assist in cardiac and thoracic surgery

Manage ICU and step-down CTS patients

Perform weekend and holiday rounding

Participate in 24-hour call coverage (home call)

Collaborate with CTS surgeons and APP team

Provide care across hospitals within a short drive radius

Procedural Experience Required

Thoracic Surgery

Robotic thoracic surgery

VATS

Open thoracotomy

First assist required

Cardiac Surgery

CABG

AVR / MVR

Ascending aneurysms and dissections

First and second assist

Additional Required Skills

Endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting (Hemopro)

Open radial and/or endoradial harvesting (preferred)

Temporary pacing wire removal

IABP manipulation and removal

Chest tube management and sclerosis

Practice Details

2 Cardiac Surgeons

1 Thoracic Surgeon

5 APPs on service

EMR: Epic

Hospital-based inpatient setting

Requirements

PA or Acute Care NP

Active Ohio license required at submission

Board certification required

Significant CTS experience required

Epic experience required

NPDB required at time of presentation

Clean background only

Local candidates strongly preferred

Not willing to license
