Job description

Aya Locums is seeking a Cardiovascular Surgeon to provide ongoing coverage at a well-established medical center in Minnesota. This opportunity offers a balanced mix of scheduled surgical cases and call responsibilities within a collaborative, high-acuity cardiac program.
Assignment Details
• Start Date: March 2026
• Schedule: Standard weekday schedule with call requirements
• Shift Times: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Shifts: Days, nights, and weekends as needed
• Call Coverage: Required
Work Details
• Specialty: Cardiovascular & Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Case Mix: Predominantly routine adult cardiac cases
• Common Procedures Include:
o Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
o Cardiac valve repair and replacement
o Aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection repair
o Carotid endarterectomy
o Atrial fibrillation surgery
o Pacemaker implantation
o Thoracoscopic surgery
o Esophageal surgery (minimally invasive)
o Minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery
o Heart failure and LVAD procedures
o TAVR/Structural Heart interventions
o Congenital heart surgery
• Practice Environment: Hospital-based cardiovascular surgery program
• Schedule Type: Primarily elective and routine cases with emergent call coverage
• Support Staff: Experienced OR teams, cardiovascular anesthesiology, and full ancillary support
Ideal Candidate
• Proficient in both cardiothoracic and vascular procedures
• Comfortable managing a full spectrum of adult cardiac cases
• Flexible and team-oriented approach to patient care
Requirements
• License: Active Minnesota medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Board Certification: Required in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Experience: Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Availability: Willingness to participate in scheduled shifts and on-call rotations
