Locums – APP – Physician Assistant / Acute Care NP – Cardiothoracic Surgery, Ohio

Start Date: March 2, 2026
Assignment Length: Minimum 6 months (ongoing need possible)
Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours + On Call
Location: Cleveland, OH (multiple sites within ~15 minutes)

Schedule & Call

Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Call Requirements:

1 weekday call

1 weekend call (Friday–Sunday)

24-hour call (not in-house)

Weekend & Holiday Rounding: Required

Practice Setting

Inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery Service

ICU and Step-Down Unit Coverage

EMR: Epic

Team Structure

2 Cardiac Surgeons

1 Thoracic Surgeon

5 Advanced Practice Providers

Clinical Responsibilities

First and second assist in cardiac and thoracic surgery cases

Management of ICU and step-down patients (cardiac and thoracic)

Weekend and holiday rounding

Coverage across nearby hospital locations as needed

Procedural Experience Required

Thoracic Surgery: Robotic, VATS, and open thoracotomy (1st assist)

Cardiac Surgery:

CABG, AVR, MVR

Ascending aneurysms and dissections (non-robotic)

Endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting (Hemopro required)

Open radial and/or endoradial harvesting (preferred)

Privileges include:

Temporary pacing wire removal

IABP manipulation/removal

Vein and radial harvesting

Chest tube sclerosis

Requirements

Provider Type: Physician Assistant or Acute Care CNP

Licensure: Active license required (no licensing assistance)

Experience: Extensive cardiac and thoracic surgery experience required

EMR: Epic experience preferred

Background: Clean background only

NPDB: Required at time of presentation
