Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours + On Call
Schedule & Coverage
Preferred Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off (Monday–Sunday)
Day Coverage:
Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM (onsite)
Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (onsite)
On Call:
ICU call 1–2 nights per week (4:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekend call: Saturday 7:00 AM through Monday 6:30 AM
Weekend onsite rounding approximately 4 hours/day (arrive at 6:00 AM)
Call is offsite with callback as needed
Practice Setting
Inpatient only
Trauma Level II facility
EMR: Cerner
Patient Volume
8–10 patients per shift
Clinical Responsibilities
Daily rounding on all inpatient cardiothoracic patients (ICU and step-down)
Medical management and new consults
Discharges and care coordination
ICU coverage while on call
Limited OR exposure initially; emergency OR coverage possible during call
Procedural & Surgical Experience Required
Endoscopic vein harvesting (Hemapro 2) — required
Approximately 500 EVH cases / 10+ years experience
Some open vein harvesting and fem-pop exposure
First assist on select cases after orientation
Assist with training new APPs on EVH
Service Lines Covered
Cardiac Surgery: CABG, valve surgeries, aortic dissections, high-acuity cases
Thoracic Surgery: Primarily robotic; some VATS and thoracotomies
Vascular Surgery: Open vascular procedures (CEA, AAA, lower extremity revascularization)
Heart Failure: LVAD, ECMO, Impella
Team Structure
Multiple APPs on service
Providers requested: 3
Requirements
Provider Type: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Board Certification: Required
Fellowship: Required
Licensure: Active Indiana license or IMLC
Certifications: BLS, ACLS
Experience: Must have extensive cardiothoracic surgery experience
Credentialing: 10–30 days with clean background
