Position Overview
Cardiothoracic Surgeon needed for full-time coverage with call responsibilities at a Level II Trauma facility. Assignment includes predominantly routine cardiothoracic cases with structural heart volume. Emergency temporary privileges available for clean files. Complete submission required.
Start Date
March 16, 2026 (ASAP start available)
Ideal January 1 start (committee meeting January 5, 2026)

Scheduled + On Call Required
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
1:3 call rotation
Call weeks include:
Day shift coverage
Overnight call (5:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
24-hour weekend call
Priority Coverage Dates
March 16–22
March 30–April 5
April 20–26
May 4–10
(Additional dates available beyond these priority weeks.)
Practice Setting
Inpatient
Level II Trauma Center
Case Mix & Annual Volumes
Predominantly routine cases (CABG, valves, etc.)
CABG/Valve procedures: ~250
TAVR: ~200
Mitral clips: ~100
Lead extractions: ~35
Standby coverage required
Procedures Include
Coronary artery bypass grafting
Valve repair and replacement
TAVR / Structural heart
Aortic aneurysm and dissection repair
Atrial fibrillation surgery
LVAD surgery
Carotid endarterectomy
Minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery
Thoracoscopic procedures
Esophageal surgery (minimally invasive)
Oncology lung cases referred to another facility
No electrophysiology cases
Ideal Candidate
Proficient in cardiothoracic and vascular procedures
Flexible and comfortable in a high-volume environment
Requirements
Minnesota license or IMLC required
Board Certified / Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
Credentialing
Emergency temporary privileges available for clean files
Complete file required for submission
