POSITION OVERVIEW

A Level I Trauma Center is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Physician Assistant (PA) to join a Cardiovascular Surgery team consisting of cardiac and vascular surgeons.

This is a rounding-focused position supporting both cardiac and vascular services. No operating room responsibilities are required.

The APP team provides daily rounding and patient management across ICU and floor settings, with shared support during weekdays and independent coverage during assigned weekends.

SCHEDULE & CALL

SHIFT TYPE: DAYS
WORK SCHEDULE: 4-DAY, 10-HOUR WORKWEEK

CALL REQUIREMENTS:

1 in 4 weeks on call (first call from home)

1 weekend per month required

Weekend coverage is independent (provider works solo)

WEEKEND PATIENT VOLUME: 15–30 patients
AVERAGE DAILY PATIENT VOLUME: Approximately 15 patients (higher on weekends)

CLINICAL BREAKDOWN (APPROXIMATE DAILY CENSUS)

CVICU: 2–3 minimum per day (can be up to 8)

CVSU: 2–5 per day (includes discharges)

VASCULAR: 4–10 between ICU and floors

Most vascular patients are not primary

Majority are floor patients


COMPENSATION & COVERAGE

This is a locum tenens placement.



COMPENSATION STRUCTURE:

Rate: $180/hour

Orientation: ½ hourly rate

10-hour day rate

Holiday rate

24-hour call rate

Night call rate

Call-back rate

Flight

Hotel accommodations

Rental car

Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate

Additional standard locum benefits may apply (to be negotiated).



REQUIREMENTS

All items must be notated at the time of name clear.

BOARD CERTIFIED APP – REQUIRED

ACTIVE MICHIGAN MEDICAL LICENSE – REQUIRED AT TIME OF NAME CLEAR

BLS CERTIFICATION – REQUIRED

ACLS CERTIFICATION – REQUIRED

NPDB SELF-QUERY (WITHIN 30 DAYS AT TIME OF PRESENTATION) – REQUIRED

CLEAN MALPRACTICE AND LICENSE HISTORY – HIGHLY PREFERRED

NEW GRADUATES – NOT ACCEPTED; MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE
