Job ID: Cardiothoracic Surgeon Fredericksburg, VA
Cardiothoracic Surgeon Needed in Fredericksburg, VA
Job description
Start: May
26-week assignment
5, Day (8 Hours) 9:00 - 15:00
Client is looking for a provider to cover one to two weeks per month (Mon-Mon), throughout the whole year. This is for clinic and 24-hour call, the call is not often - usually a few times during the week. There will be rounding at the hospital with no active surgeries on the books.
Clinic hours are between 9am - 3 pm, it all depends on the day. Clinic is usually 2-3 days per week and then the other days are surgery days.
May 2026 - the end of year
***Must obtain AHA Certifications***
***VA license at time of presentation***
Job Description
• Perform a wide array of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including but not limited to treating patients with adult acquired and congenital cardiac disease, including coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic surgery, valvular surgery, atrial fibrillation management procedures, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and endovascular aneurysm repair.
• Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary care team.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of advanced practitioners, physicians, and other members of the healthcare delivery team to provide outstanding comprehensive care.
• The clinic side is seeing patients here in the office during the day. The clinic is open from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. We have several APPs who does the bulk of the patient load, but the provider does see the patient after the APP has done a workup. Most of the patients would be post-op visits. I believe that clinic is only 2 or 3 days per week (depending on the week)
• The physician would do rounding in the hospital between 7 am and 8 am, there is usually an APP in attendance as well. Clinic after rounding usually happens in the afternoons (so half a day), the 24-hour call meaning that if something came up the physician would have to report back to the hospital for consult or in-patient. Again, there is always an APP on the floor whether its in clinic or in the hospital.
REQUIREMENTS
• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine graduate from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited general surgery residency followed by a residency in cardiothoracic surgery OR an accredited integrated general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residency.
• Candidates must be board-eligible or certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
• Current, unrestricted Commonwealth of Virginia license or licensure eligible
• Current DEA certificate without restriction
• Proficiency in a wide range of cardiothoracic procedures, including coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic surgery, valvular repair and replacement, atrial fibrillation/left atrial appendage management, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
• Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills are required as well as a strong commitment to providing high quality patient care.
• There are several APPs during the week in the clinic and in the hospital as well as an APP being on call overnight and the weekend
• Epic is the EMR
