Cardiothoracic Surgeon – Virginia - 1-2 weeks a month
Job description
A leading regional medical center in Virginia is seeking a Board-Eligible/Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join a collaborative surgical program. The role includes performing advanced cardiothoracic procedures, providing inpatient care and rounding, and participating in clinic follow-ups alongside a strong APP support team.

• Located in Northern Virginia within commuting distance of Washington, DC

Work Environment & Schedule
• Hospital rounding typically between 7–8 AM
• Clinic hours: 8 AM – 4:30 PM, approximately 2–3 days per week
• Shared 24-hour call responsibilities with APP support
• Collaborative care model with multiple advanced practice providers
• EMR: Epic

Requirements
• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of accredited cardiothoracic surgery training
• Board-eligible or board-certified in Thoracic Surgery
• Active Virginia medical license at presentation
• Current DEA and AHA certifications required
• Proficiency in a wide range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Broad, High-Level Surgical Case Mix - Opportunity to perform a full spectrum of advanced cardiothoracic procedures, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic surgery, TAVR, and endovascular aneurysm repair
- Strong Team Support + Balanced Workflow - Work alongside multiple APPs who assist with clinic, rounding, and call coverage — allowing a balanced mix of OR time, clinic follow-ups, and inpatient care.
- Structured Schedule with Built-In Support - Predictable routine including morning rounds, limited clinic days, and shared call support, all within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment using Epic EMR.
