PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT – CARDIAC SURGERY
POSITION OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a high-acuity cardiac surgery team. This role focuses on providing comprehensive perioperative care to cardiothoracic surgery patients in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. This is a permanent position (no locums or locums-to-perm).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide expert perioperative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients

First assist in complex cardiac surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting

Manage ICU and cardiovascular surgical patients, including rounding in CVICU, inpatient floors, and clinic

Participate in two full-day clinics weekly, with additional clinic coverage as needed

Rotate through operating room coverage Monday–Friday

Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests

Develop and implement detailed care plans and follow-up strategies

Prescribe medications per regulatory guidelines

Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Exercise independent clinical judgment under physician supervision

Maintain ongoing CME and demonstrate adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: $100,588 – $143,769 annually, based on experience

REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies

PA-C certification (NCCPA)

Minimum 3+ years of cardiac or cardiovascular surgery experience, including ICU management and/or endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting

Active DEA license with full prescriptive authority

Eligible for unrestricted medical staff privileges

BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)

Eligible for Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment

No current or prior sanctions or exclusions
