Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic Surgery (Inpatient + OR First Assist)
Location: near Norfolk, VA
Start Date: 5/1/2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks; potential extension

Schedule

Standard daytime schedule (approx. 7:00 AM–3:00 PM; flexible)
Scheduled coverage + optional call
Coverage needed for May 2026 & June 2026
Exact days/times pending
Full‑time schedule


Practice Details

Inpatient cardiothoracic service + OR first assist
Adults‑only population
Procedures include EVH and CABG first‑assist
Rounding in ICU and floor units
EMR: Epic
Hospital privileges required


Clinical Scope

First assist for cardiothoracic surgery (CABG, EVH)
Perform vein harvesting
Manage postoperative cardiothoracic patients
Conduct ICU and floor rounding
Collaborate with CT surgery team for coordinated care
Complete all documentation within Epic


Requirements

Nurse Practitioner — Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
Active state license required
DEA required
AHA BLS and ACLS required
Epic experience required
Hospital privileging required
Minimum experience: CT surgery first‑assist background (EVH + CABG)
PAs accepted only if meeting same experience requirements


Credentialing

Estimated ~60 days
Provider must submit onboarding documents promptly to initiate privileging
