Schedule: Full‑time, 3×12‑hour shifts (6a–6p)
Call: No call required
Employment Type: Locums; PRN candidates also considered
Setting: Inpatient – CV Step‑Down + Some CVICU Support
EMR: Epic
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced NP or PA to support an inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery service. This role focuses on rounding and managing pre‑ and post‑operative cardiac surgery patients within a CV step‑down unit, with some support provided to the CVICU. This is a collaborative environment with a Cardiac Attending, CV Surgical PA for procedures, and dedicated APP support.
Note: Vein harvesting is not a hard requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide inpatient clinical care for adult cardiothoracic patients
Pre‑ and post‑operative management
Rounding with multidisciplinary team
Manage lines and tubes (removal only)
Chest tube (CT) and pacing wire (PW) removal
Interpret chest X‑rays
Support cases including CABG, transplants, VADs, and thoracic procedures
Assist in OR as needed (no required procedural experience)

No call coverage
No requirement to place lines
No mandatory vein harvesting experience
Patient Population
Adults
High‑acuity cardiothoracic population
CV step‑down unit and some CVICU exposure
Preferred Background
Experience in cardiothoracic, cardiac ICU, or inpatient surgical APP roles
Comfort with fast‑paced inpatient environments
Strong understanding of cardiac surgery workflows
