Locums – Physician – Interventional Cardiology - Iowa

Job description

Overview:
A facility in Iowa is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist for ongoing locum tenens coverage. This role includes a combination of clinic, inpatient consults, and call responsibilities.

Assignment Details:
Coverage Type: Scheduled clinic hours + call
Contract Requirement: Provider must be available at least 3 weeks per month
Overtime: Maximum of 5 hours of overtime per week (strict requirement)
Preference: Full-time providers will be prioritized for interviews and offers

Schedule:

Clinic Hours:
Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Call Schedule:
Weekday call: 8:00 AM – 8:00 AM (rotating)
Weekend call: Friday 8:00 AM – Monday 8:00 AM (rotating)

Patient Volume:

Clinic: 12–15 patients per day
Inpatient rounding/consults: 5–10 patients per day

Call Expectations:

Callback hours vary, typically averaging 4–6 hours per weekday for interventional cases
Providers will also be expected to participate in general cardiology call coverage on select days

Procedures & Responsibilities:

Diagnostic cardiac catheterizations
Angioplasty and stenting
Stress echocardiography and nuclear stress testing
Interpretation of echocardiograms, Holter monitors, and event monitors
Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
Cardioversions

Additional Information:

EMR: Epic
Licensure: Iowa license preferred; will consider candidates willing to obtain an Iowa license or those with Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) eligibility
Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 60 days
