Small Community Hospital – Full-Time Position
A small community hospital is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to support care across the ICU, operating room, and clinic. Nurse Practitioners with RNFA certification will also be considered. This role follows a unique continuity‑of‑care model in which providers manage patients throughout the entire surgical process.
Position Highlights
- Full-time schedule: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Minimum 6‑month commitment (longer preferred)
- Call Requirements:
- ICU night call: 1 night per week
- Weekend call: 1 weekend per month
- Clinic: 2 half days per week
- Open to candidates interested in OR‑only or ICU‑rounding‑only schedules
Preferred Experience
- Vein and artery harvesting experience
- When submitting candidates, please include:
- Ability to perform vein/artery harvesting
- EVH and/or RAH competency
- Average vein harvest time
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide care in ICU, OR, floor, and clinic settings
- First and second assist in the OR (including EVH/RAH if applicable)
- Conduct patient evaluations, histories, and physical exams
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies
- Assist in surgical procedures under physician supervision
- Manage admissions, discharges, and care coordination
- Prescribe and administer medications per protocol
- Communicate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in patient education and quality improvement initiatives
Credentials & Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Active PA license (NP/RNFA considered with appropriate credentials)
- BLS certification
- DEA registration
Credentialing Timeline
- Temporary privileges available in approximately 30 days
- Full credentialing typically completed in 3–4 months
