Medical Physicist Needed Near Houston, TX
Start Date: 7/6/2026
Contract Length: 16 weeks (potential ongoing)

Schedule

Monday – Friday
Day shift only
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Coverage: Scheduled clinical coverage only
No call required


Practice Details

Acute care hospital
Radiation Oncology department
Main campus with support for future satellite locations opening in late 2026
Division currently staffed with:

3 PhD Medical Physicists
2 Dosimetrists
1 Administrative Assistant




Clinical Scope
The Medical Physicist will provide comprehensive clinical radiation therapy physics services, including:

External Beam Radiation Therapy
IGRT
IMRT / VMAT
SRS / SRT / SBRT
HDR brachytherapy

Responsibilities include clinical support, quality assurance, treatment planning oversight, and collaboration with physicians, dosimetry, and therapy staff. Participation in clinical development initiatives and potential teaching/research support is expected.

Brainlab Elements (SRS/SRT)

Planned Enhancements (2026):

Implementation of Varian ARIA OIS
Eclipse HyperArc & RapidArc Dynamic planning
Sun Nuclear SunCHECK QA platform
Upgrade to Elekta Flexitron HDR afterloader


Experience & Education Requirements

PhD in Medical Physics, Physics, Engineering, or related field
ABR or ABMP certification required
Minimum of 3 years full‑time clinical experience in radiation oncology physics
Demonstrated experience working in a diverse clinical and academic environment
Strong technical, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills

Clinically oriented research experience and peer‑reviewed publications are highly preferred.
