Cardiothoracic Surgery APP (NP/PA) – Locum Tenens
Location: Salem, VA
Start: June | 13-week assignment

Position Overview

Seeking a Board-Certified NP or PA for a Cardiothoracic Surgery role supporting a Level II Trauma Center in Salem, VA. This is a full-time position requiring both clinical coverage and call, with a mix of inpatient, OR, ICU, and clinic responsibilities.

Schedule

* Day shift: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
* Night call: 4:30 PM – 7:00 AM
* 24/7 coverage model (trauma support)

Practice Details

* Setting: Acute care hospital (500+ beds, regional referral center)
* EMR: eCW
* Patient volume: ~25 per day
* Mix of hospital, CVOR, ICU, and clinic

Responsibilities

* Provide inpatient rounding and patient management
* Clinic coverage (approximately 1 day per week)
* First assist in CVOR, including endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
* Support CT surgery cases and procedures
* Participate in after-hours CT call coverage (low volume)
* Documentation and care coordination

Requirements

* Board Certified NP or PA
* BLS and ACLS required
* Experience in cardiothoracic surgery preferred
* First assist and EVH experience required
