Role Overview
Gallant Business Solutions is seeking a licensed Psychologist to support the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) within secure juvenile detention facilities across Baltimore and the surrounding areas.
This role centers on conducting high-quality psychological evaluations and risk assessments for justice-involved youth. The Psychologist plays a critical role in informing clinical treatment planning, behavioral interventions, and system-level decision-making related to safety, rehabilitation, and reintegration.
This is a temp-to-permanent role, with a strong expectation of conversion to permanent employment after approximately five (5) months, based on performance and program needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, including cognitive, personality, and differential diagnostic assessments
• Perform risk assessments and clinical screenings related to mental health, behavioral concerns, and substance use
• Conduct psychosexual evaluations, as required
• Monitor youth for suicidal ideation, self-harm behaviors, and acute behavioral incidents
• Review and follow up on youth placed on suicide watch
• Document clinical findings and recommendations in a timely and compliant manner
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and legally compliant clinical records
• Participate in scheduled clinical and interdisciplinary team meetings
• Collaborate with behavioral health, medical, and facility staff to support continuity of care
• Perform additional duties as assigned in support of clinical operations
Required Education & Licensure
• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology
• Active Maryland psychology license in good standing
Required Experience & Competencies
• Minimum 3 years of post-licensure experience as a practicing Psychologist
• Direct experience working with children and adolescents
• Prior experience in juvenile justice, detention, inpatient, residential, or forensic settings required
• Strong working knowledge of:
o Trauma-informed care
o Adolescent development
o Juvenile justice populations
• Demonstrated crisis assessment and intervention skills
• High level of clinical judgment and professional discretion
• Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable transportation required
