Anesthesiologist – Hospital-Based Practice (Locum/Contract)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiologist for a full-time hospital-based assignment starting April 6, 2026. This is a high-acuity, dynamic role supporting both inpatient and outpatient surgical services within a tertiary care environment. Providers must be comfortable working across varied clinical settings and patient acuity levels.
This opportunity is ideal for clinicians who enjoy variety, autonomy, and consistent full-time hours without call responsibilities.
Schedule & Coverage
Start Date: April 6, 2026
Coverage Type: Scheduled, No Call
Shift Type: Day shifts
Schedule: Flexible – providers may work 4 or 5 days per week
Shift Length: Typically 8 hours; may extend up to 10 hours depending on case volume
Weekly Hours: Minimum of 40 hours/week guaranteed
Note: There are no fixed 8- or 10-hour shift requirements.
Practice Setting
Hospital-based OR coverage
Providers will be floated between inpatient and outpatient settings
Mix of high-acuity inpatient cases and ambulatory surgery
No cardiac, liver, or neuro cases
Predominantly solo practice, with occasional oversight of CRNAs
EMR: Epic
⚠️ This role does not offer an outpatient-only option. Providers must be comfortable covering both inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Case Mix & Patient Population
Adult and adolescent patients (13+ years)
General anesthesia cases with occasional regional anesthesia
High-acuity experience preferred (ASA III+)
Candidate Requirements
Board Certification required
Board-eligible candidates may be considered if fellowship trained
Active California medical license required
DEA (CA, Schedule II/II-N) required
BLS & ACLS (AHA) required
Minimum 2 years of anesthesiology experience
Recent experience in tertiary care centers
Recent solo practice experience required
Regional anesthesia experience strongly preferred (evaluated case by case)
🚫 Experience focused primarily on chronic pain clinics or procedures is not applicable for this role.
Additional Details
Contract Length: 26+ weeks
Coverage Need: Full-time preferred
Must be available for at least 2 weeks per month
Support Staff: CRNAs
Credentialing Timeframe: 60–90 days
Interview Process: 1–2 interviews
