Critical Care APP Locum in Southeastern VA | IMCU

Job description

Medicus has partnered with a reputable hospital in southeastern Virginia with an opening for a skilled Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide locum coverage.

Location: Norfolk, VA
PAY: $140/HR (1099)

Opening Overview:
Schedule: Tuesday-Sunday, 7a-4p
No call requirement
Setting: Intermediate care unit (IMCU)
Patient Census: 8-12 per day
Primarily post-op CTS patients, some pre-op management
Support Staff: APP
2 App's on weekend. one is there for 4 hours to assist.
EMR: Epic
Must be board-certified
Paid travel & expenses: Full Travel

Responsibilities:
-Care for CTS patients in the step-down unit
-Primarily post operative patients
-Occasional pre-op patient management
-This is not ICU level care, but looking for someone with a critical care or CTS background.
-Managing their assigned patients , daily progress notes, medication management, communicating with attendings and -consulting services, attend MDR's, attending MDRs, writing discharge summaries and discharging patients (including med recs and writing prescriptions), pulling chest tubes and pacing wires, writing consult notes.
-Full daily progress notes are not needed on the weekend, but patients should be rounded on, medications / labs / imaging reviewed, surgeon notes reviewed, and orders entered. This does require entering a brief progress note when a plan of care or medication adjustment needs to be documented. Chest tubes and pacing wires will need to pulled on weekends as well
-Initially this will need to be under the direct supervision of an attending physician.
