Diagnostic Radiologist Needed

Job description

A high-volume hospital in the Los Angeles area is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Radiologist for onsite weekend coverage. This role requires a strong generalist who is confident reading all modalities that present through a busy ED, including pediatric trauma, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and plain films.

Prostate MRI experience is highly preferred. Must be able to read everything that comes through the ED.

This is an urgent need with an ASAP start once credentialed.

Schedule & Commitment
Weekends only – Saturday & Sunday

Shift hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (10-hour shifts)

Minimum: 2 weekends per month (at least 1 required, 2+ strongly preferred)

Onsite only

No call

Before starting, the radiologist must complete two weekday onsite training/setup days.

Workload & Expectations
High-volume environment

Average reads:

130–140 studies per weekday

150–180 studies per weekend day

Modalities include:

CT (heavy volume)

Plain films (heavy volume)

MRI

Ultrasound

No nuclear medicine, cardiac, or breast imaging

Must complete all studies during the shift (no carryover to next reader)

Patient Population
Primarily adults and geriatrics

Some pediatric overflow, including occasional peds trauma from the ED

Requirements
Board Certified (Required)

Unrestricted California Medical License (Required)

DEA (Required)

BLS or ACLS (Required)

Minimum 1 year of experience

Ability to read all ED studies, including peds trauma

Prostate MRI experience highly preferred
