Locum - Emergency Medicine - Physician Assistant Opportunity in Ashland, KY

Job description

APPs function with oversight as needed by the physicians. Essentially if the APP has a question about a patient, the APP can discuss it with the physician. NO fast track area at this time.
All APPs work in the main ED (no fast track) for the entire 12 hour shift. APPs provide 24 hour coverage.
Main procedures include laceration repairs and I&Ds. Other procedures including intubation, central lines, and chest tubes are done by the physicians. If APPs wish to perform these, they must be done with direct physician supervision per bylaws.
Specialty backup: General surgery, CT surgery, ortho, ENT, cardiology, interventional cardiology, pulmonologist, psych, OB/GYN, hem/onc, intensivist, plastic surgery, dermatology, Peds. There is neuro subspecialty, but not neurosurgery.
