Gastroenterologist Needed in Illinois – May & July Dates First Up!

Job description

We’re looking for a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to join a hospital-based inpatient team for May and July dates. This is a procedurally heavy GI locum covering two nearby hospitals with full support staff, strong EMR systems (EPIC & Provation), and travel/lodging covered.

🔹 Assignment Highlights:
Schedule: 8a–5p inpatient coverage + night phone call (5p–7a)

Next Needs: May 3–11 & July 4–12

Census: ~14 patients/day shared between 2 locations (12 min apart)

Support: APP on-site

Contract: 3-month rolling, ongoing availability encouraged

Minimum Commitment: 7 days/month ongoing

🔹 Required Procedures:
Upper GI: Biopsy, Foreign Body Removal, Fulguration, Varices Banding, ERCP (Diagnostic & Therapeutic), PEG

Lower GI: Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Small Bowel Biopsy, Esophageal Dilatation

Tube Placement: Sengstaken/Blakemore
