Description:
The Department of Veterans Affairs, to provide On-Site Gastroenterology Services at Audie L Murphy VA Medical Center, 7400 Merton Minter Street, San Antonio, TX 78229-4404 to veterans and eligible beneficiaries being serviced in San Antonio, TX. he Contractor’s physician (s)’ care shall cover the range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state- of-the-art health care medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceedingly currently recognized national standards as established by the American College of Physicians-Internal Medicine Clinical Practice Guidelines and Recommendations | ACP (Sign up or sign in for contact information) and American College of Gastroenterology Guidelines:

Responsibilities:

• Consulting with patients to understand their health concerns.
• Performing specialized tests to diagnose patients.
• Determining proper courses of treatment.
• Consulting with a patient's primary doctor.
• Analyzing patient historical data.
• Consulting with other specialists, such as oncologists, in the case of cancer.
• Performing endoscopic procedures to inspect internal organs.
• Performing X-Ray, MRI, and ultrasound scanning.
• Performing surgery in the digestive tract.

Requirements:
• Doctoral Degree - MD
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience preferred.
• Licensure to practice medicine within the continental United States; Board certified or board eligible for
certification in the specialty associated with the Gastroenterology.
• Fellowship training in Gastroenterology; Board certified or eligible.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Must have active medical license for the state.
