Location Description - The Connecticut River is the centerpiece as it meanders through towns and cities of this region. Along the way you'll find the meticulously restored Victorian State Capital in Hartford along with Mark Twain's home and the Wadsworth Atheneum (the oldest public art museum in the country). Essex, Chester, Old Saybrook and other towns along the river, boast of small town charm and is the home of the quirky Gillette's Castle in Haddam with one of the best vistas of the river.
