Job description
TinkBird Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage at a community hospital in eastern North Carolina. Providers will be required to arrive the day prior to their first scheduled shift for orientation. A minimum of five years of experience is preferred.

November 15, 2026 (7:00 AM) – November 18, 2026 (7:00 AM)
December 30, 2026 (7:00 AM) – January 4, 2027 (7:00 AM)
Position Details
Inpatient and outpatient call coverage
Solo call coverage
Nights and weekends required
Coverage includes surgical consults and procedures
Emergency Department consult coverage required during call
EPIC EMR
Clinical Volume
Average outpatient clinic volume: 25 patients per day
Average elective surgical cases: Up to 8 per day
Average surgical inpatient census: 2 patients
Average admissions per day: 1
Required Procedures
Upper endoscopy (EGD)
Colonoscopy
Gallbladder removal (Cholecystectomy)
Appendectomy
Food bolus removal
Bowel obstruction management
Hernia repair
General surgery call coverage
Requirements
Board Certified General Surgeon
BLS certification required
Upper and lower endoscopy experience required
Minimum five years of experience preferred
Additional Certifications
ACLS and PALS required only if requesting conscious sedation privileges
Practice Setting
Community hospital environment
Inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
May require ICU/Critical Care duties
Locum physician is not responsible for responding to codes
Dedicated surgical and endoscopy services available
