About the clinician's workday

The hematologist/oncologist will provide primarily outpatient clinic coverage during day shifts with call responsibilities, managing consults and follow-ups for post-chemotherapy and active surveillance patients in a general hematology/oncology case mix (60% hematology, 40% oncology). Clinical duties include supporting infusion nurses with questions or reactions, managing narcotic and non-narcotic prescriptions, signing orders for labs and imaging, and signing daily CBCs within four hours. The clinician will also triage incoming consult requests and referrals, order tests, and approve chemotherapy orders for the following week; all clinical documentation must be maintained through the Epic EMR system. No inpatient consults are required, though Hospitalists may contact the clinician with questions; clinicians receive 1-2 calls per day from ER physicians but are not required to see patients.
