2 Interventional Cardiology PA & NP

Job description

I have a client in San Francisco, CA seeking 2 Interventional Cardiology PAs & NPs for locum coverage starting in July. Please see a few details below:
• 6-month assignment
• Schedule/Shifts - Schedule: 4x10hr, 7a-530p, M-F only, no weekends (though weekends may be possible). Overtime may be possible.
• EMR: Epic
• Experience Required: Any kind of procedural surgical experience where they’re actually assisting in the OR itself. Interventional radiology would be fine. APP would essentially be taking on the role of a fellow and performing the same duties – pre-op, post-op orders, post-op follow-up, addressing medical concerns patients might have. Must be comfortable with all of that.
• MUST be willing to scrub/circulate in procedures, which is most critical. The position is highly procedural-based.
• Percentage of time in lab: as much as 75% of their day being in procedure. Will be wearing lead. Will be first-assist. There could be potential to scrub into more complex cases, if they’re interested in more experience. They won’t put them into anything too complex without getting to know them first; they have a dedicated fellow for those more complex cases. Most cases will be diagnostic or minimal intervention.
• So far as inpatient involvement, will need to check on patients the next morning, but won’t be discharging from inpatient. Will likely do consents/H&P/inpatient triage (history & physical).
• 2 yrs’ experience related to adult cardiothoracic/cardiovascular patient care experience as a PA and/or minimum 1 years of adult ICU experience as a physician assistant in a Cardiothoracic ICU/Coronary Care Unit/Cardiovascular ICU setting.
• Patients per shift: ~4-5 on average, 9 on the high end
• Patient population: Adolescent/Adult/Geriatric
• Must have active CA license & active AHA BLS/ACLS at time of presentation. Active CA DEA. Masters in Physician Assistant Studies.
Procedures, if applicable: Access right heart cath, left heart cath, diagnostic adult catheterization.
