POSITION OVERVIEW
This opportunity is for a Radiologist to provide hospital-based coverage in a General Acute Care Hospital setting. Coverage includes Interventional Radiology needs, Stroke CTs, and other acute imaging studies. There is also potential outpatient coverage requiring on-site Radiologist presence for specific studies and procedures.
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Schedule/Shift Times: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Coverage: Ongoing
Weekend Requirements: Yes
On-Call Requirements: Yes
RATES
HOURLY RATE:
$450–$550
Per hour, not OT
HOLIDAY RATE:
Must be 1.5x the hourly rate
Per holiday hour, no OT
ORIENTATION RATE:
Half the hourly/callback rate
Applies per hour of orientation or training beyond 8 hours
MALPRACTICE COVERAGE:
Provided

Stroke Certified
Not a Chest Pain Center
No Trauma Level designation
DUTIES & SCOPE OF COVERAGE
Hospital Radiology coverage including:
Interventional Radiology needs
Stroke CTs
Emergency Department and ICU imaging studies
Potential coverage of an outpatient imaging building requiring:
On-site Radiologist presence for contrasted CTs and MRIs
Breast biopsies
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
Lumbar punctures
Barium studies
Various centesis exams with drains
CT- and ultrasound-guided biopsies (preferred)
INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY PROCEDURES
Thoracentesis
Paracentesis
Nephrostomy tubes
Intra-abdominal abscess drainage
Chest tubes
Suprapubic catheters
BIOPSIES
Thyroid
Lung
Other biopsy types
VOLUME EXPECTATIONS
TOTAL DAILY VOLUME:
~50 studies/day + 4–6 procedures/day
BREAKDOWN OF DAILY WORK:
CTs: 12–15
X-rays: 15–20
Ultrasounds: 8–12
IR Procedures: 4–6
Additional details:
Predominantly non-complex IR
Majority are percutaneous procedures (biopsies, drains, aspirations)
Infrequent tunneled procedures (e.g., PleurX catheter placement, CV access)

Admissions per Day: 12–15
ED Daily Volume: 85–90 patients/day
Average Daily Inpatient/Observation Census: ~50 patients
Includes ICU and OB
Types of Cases: Surgical, Medical, ICU, and OB
EMR & SUPPORT
EMR: Cerner
Support Staff: Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology) Nurses and Technologists
Additional Support: Large Radiology group provides overflow and after-hours reads
