LOCUM TENENS – RADIOLOGIST (INTERVENTIONAL & ACUTE CARE)
Location: California – General Acute Care Hospital
Schedule: Day Shifts | Weekend & On-Call Required
POSITION OVERVIEW
A hospital-based Radiology opportunity is available for an experienced Radiologist to provide acute care coverage. Responsibilities include Interventional Radiology procedures, Stroke CTs, ED and ICU imaging, and potential outpatient coverage requiring on-site presence for specific studies and procedures.
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Day Shifts)
Coverage: Ongoing
Weekend Requirement: Yes
On-Call Requirement: Yes
COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate: $450–$550/hr (non-OT)
Holiday Rate: 1.5x hourly rate per holiday hour (no OT)
Orientation Rate: 50% of hourly/callback rate for hours beyond 8 during orientation/training
Malpractice Coverage: Provided

No Chest Pain Center designation
No Trauma Level designation
Potential outpatient coverage: CTs, MRIs, breast biopsies
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospital Coverage:
Interventional Radiology procedures
Stroke CTs
ED and ICU imaging
Required Procedures:
Lumbar punctures, Barium studies
Various centesis exams with drains
CT- and Ultrasound-guided biopsies (preferred)
Interventional Procedures:
Thoracentesis, Paracentesis
Nephrostomy tubes
Intra-abdominal abscess drainage
Chest tubes
Suprapubic catheters
Biopsies:
Thyroid, Lung, Other types
VOLUME EXPECTATIONS
Total Daily Volume: ~50 studies/day + 4–6 procedures/day
Breakdown:
CTs: 12–15
X-rays: 15–20
Ultrasounds: 8–12
IR Procedures: 4–6
Predominantly non-complex IR, mostly percutaneous procedures; infrequent tunneled procedures (e.g., PleurX, CV access)
PATIENT & FACILITY VOLUME
Daily Admissions: 12–15
ED Volume: 85–90 patients/day
Average Daily Inpatient/Observation Census: ~50
Includes ICU and OB patients
Cases: Surgical, Medical, ICU, OB
EMR & SUPPORT
EMR: Cerner
Support Staff: Radiology nurses and technologists
Additional Support: Large Radiology group for overflow and after-hours reads

Replacement for Radiologist resignation
REQUIREMENTS
Board Certified or Board Eligible – Required
California State License – Required
Residency/Fellowship – Required
BLS and DEA – Required during credentialing
California Fluoroscopy License – Required at submission
Clean malpractice history – Preferred
Availability at time of name clear – Required
NPDB self-query report (within 30 days) – Required
Credentialing timeframe: TBD
