Medical Oncologist – Locum Tenens Opportunity

Job description

We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Oncologists to support the launch of a new Medical Oncology practice. This is a full-time locum tenens opportunity offering consistent weekday coverage in a collaborative, team-based environment.
The practice is expanding and looking to onboard two additional locum physicians to ensure continuity of care during its initial growth phase.
Schedule & Coverage
• Start Date: November 2025 (or as credentialed)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Shift Length: 8–10 hour day shifts
• Start Time: 7:30 AM
• Estimated Shifts: ~20 per month
• No weekends
Practice Support & Environment
• Advanced Practice Provider (APP) support on-site
• PRN Medical Oncologist coverage one week per month
• Multidisciplinary cancer care team
• Fully integrated EPIC EMR
• Full privileges available (temporary privileges supported)
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct patient care, including consultations, admissions, and follow-up visits
• Conduct hospital rounding as needed
• Collaborate closely with APPs on consults, orders, and ongoing patient management
• Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary oncology team
• Provide coverage during periods when PRN oncology support is not on-site
Candidate Requirements
• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Oncology
• Active Illinois medical license (required to apply)
• DEA required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• CSR license required
• IMLC not accepted
