Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assess nutrition: Review medical records, interview patients, and document diet histories
• Participate in team case consultations to ensure integrated care for children and teens
• Create meal plans: Consider patients' preferences and budgets, and account for special dietary needs
• Educate patients and parents: Provide information about healthy eating habits and lifestyle
• Monitor progress: Track how well patients are responding to their nutrition plan
• Communicate with other health professionals: Psychologists, physicians, nurses, schools, and others
• Stay current: Keep up with the latest research and best practices in nutrition and food science
QUALIFICATIONS
• A passion for working with children, teens, and their parents
• Experience providing nutritional counseling to children and teens
• Desire to research the relationship between nutrition and child psychological development
• MS in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited university preferred
• Licensed Registered Dietitian in the state of Virginia or actively seeking licensure
