OB/GYN Needed for Locum Coverage at Inpatient Facility in North Carolina

About the facility

This health system maintains an established inpatient obstetric and gynecologic service supported by a team of 2 physicians, 4 nurses, and 2 AWHONN Fetal Monitoring instructors. The facility features 3 labor rooms, 16 patient rooms, and 6 newborn beds, and manages approximately 30-40 deliveries and 14 surgical cases per month. Clinical operations are conducted on-site with established call coverage protocols to support continuous patient care.

About the clinician's workday

Clinicians will provide all-call obstetric and gynecologic coverage through 24-hour shifts from 7:00 AM on Friday, July 31 through 7:00 AM on Monday, August 3, with a 1:3 call schedule shared among clinicians. Call coverage does not require on-site presence; however, clinicians must respond within 30 minutes. Clinical responsibilities include managing a total inpatient census of 6 patients per day with 2-3 OB checks daily, and performing procedures such as C-sections, hysterectomies, circumcisions, postpartum tubals, vaginal deliveries, D&C, and laparotomy for ectopic pregnancy. All clinical documentation is completed using EPIC EMR (HealthSpan); BLS and NRP certifications are required, and no ICU, critical care procedures, or code response are expected.
