NURSE MANAGER – OBSTETRICS | INTERIM LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager with a strong background in Obstetrics and Maternity Services to lead a collaborative and patient-focused team at a Level II maternal and neonatal care center. Position Highlights:
16-hour non-bedside leadership role
EMR: EPIC
Oversight of a multidisciplinary team of 47 FTEs including RNs and techs
Supportive, team-oriented culture with strong collaboration across the unit
Monthly emergency preparedness drills and highly engaged staff
Opportunity to lead within a respected maternity and neonatal program
Unit Overview:
Maternity beds: 16
Nursery beds: 12
NICU beds: 4
C-section suite: 1
Average delivery volume: 50–60 births per month
Patient population includes antepartum, postpartum, mother/baby, newborns, OB/GYN, and NICU patients
Experience with glucose, magnesium, and pitocin drips highly preferred
Candidate Requirements:
Minimum 24 months recent/current experience in Maternity/Obstetrics nurse management or interim leadership
At least 15 months of interim leadership or nurse manager experience in Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, Postpartum, NICU, or Nursery settings
BSN required; MSN preferred
EPIC experience required
Previous travel assignment experience required (minimum one completed contract within the past 15 months)
Strong clinical knowledge in maternal and neonatal care environments
Active Iowa license or compact license required at submission
Additional Details:
Orientation dates available: 6/8 or 6/15
Candidates must be willing to work 1–2 summer holidays if needed
Rare expectation to assist clinically during extreme staffing situations
Leadership involvement includes staffing support, operational oversight, and after-hours guidance when necessary
