New Opportunity Located in Northern CA with Aya Locums: Critical Care Peds NP

Job description

Aya Locums is seeking a Critical Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide inpatient PCICU coverage at a facility in northern California. This role offers a mix of 12-hour shifts with required night/weekend availability.

Assignment Details
• Specialty: PCICU
• Start Date: February 2026
• Contract Length: 4 months, option to extend
• Shift Details: Variable 12-hour shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays)
• Coverage Requirement: Must provide at least 50% night or weekend coverage
• Call: Night/weekend call may be available but not guaranteed

Work Details
• Support Staff:1 attending, NPs and fellow
• Coverage Needed: Minimum 4 shifts/month
• Patients per Day: 17–18
• Patient Population:
– Primarily pediatrics
– Neonatal population
– ~8% adult congenital
• Unit Details:
– ~350 surgical cases/year
– Majority surgical patients
– Includes heart failure, pre/post-op cardiac surgery, cath lab patients, ECMO patients, pre/post-transplant
• EMR: Epic

Procedures
• APPs may perform IVs, arterial lines; may intubate or place central lines
• Most procedures completed by fellows or attendings

Requirements
• Board Certification: CPNP-AC
• License: Active CA NP license required
• DEA: Required
• Certifications: PALS, BLS
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of PCICU experience (step-down or OR does not qualify); heart failure experience is a plus
• Familiarity with ECMO/CRRT/Bags strongly preferred
