Weatherby Healthcare is seeking a specialized NP or Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for a premier locum tenens position in New Orleans, Louisiana. This role is located within a high-functioning Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) and is ideal for providers who thrive in acute, fast-paced environments.
Job Overview
Specialty: NP - Cardiovascular / Cardiothoracic Surgery (PNP-AC Care Cert required)
Location: New Orleans, LA (Acute Care Hospital)
Schedule: * Day Shifts: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM (4–7 consecutive shifts)
Night Shifts: 5:00 PM/7:00 PM – 8:00 AM (Max 4 consecutive shifts)
Patient Load: 12–14 patients per shift in a 16-bed unit
EMR: EPIC
Clinical Scope & Advanced Procedures
This role involves high-level autonomy and a heavy procedural focus. You will be working alongside a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist to manage critical cases.
Core Duties: Rounding, admissions (2–3 per shift), ICU consults, and in-house call.
Advanced Skills Required: Vent management and Thoracentesis.
Insertions: Central Lines, Arterial Lines, Chest Tubes, PA Catheters, and UAC.
Floor Coverage: Occasional coverage of 2–5 cardiology patients on the pediatric acute floor.
Requirements
Licensure: Active Louisiana (LA) license or IMLC required for presentation.
Certifications: Board Certified; BLS and PALS required.
Specific Credentials: Pediatric CVICU experience and PNP-Acute Care Certification.
DEA: Required, including Louisiana Controlled Substance Permit.
Facility & Credentialing
Environment: Hospital-based Acute Care.
Credentialing: 90–120 day timeframe (Plan ahead for this high-impact assignment).
