Maternal mental health: It’s not just postpartum. It’s not just depression
This educational session explores the mental health disorders that affect women during pregnancy and the first year postpartum, providing practical resources that enhance support. Upon completion, participants will come away with an increased understanding of maternal mental health conditions, how to discuss and screen for conditions, identify risk factors and more.

Beyond labels: reducing stigma related to maternal mental health and substance use disorder
March of Dimes aims to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to effectively screen and educate women about mental health and substance use disorders during pregnancy and postpartum. This course focuses on reducing the stigma associated with these conditions and providing resources for prevention and recovery. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of stigma on women with maternal mental health (MMH) and substance use disorders (SUD), learn strategies to mitigate these stigmas and be directed to resources that improve access to care and treatment.

This course provides authentic and compelling content for healthcare providers caring for women throughout pregnancy. March of Dimes offers this training to increase awareness and stimulate action to address bias within maternal and infant care settings. Participants will gain important insights, tools and strategies to recognize and remedy bias, leading to improved patient-provider communication, enhanced patient experience and higher quality of care.
