Mental Health Psychiatrist (FSP) - Permanent Position

Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: A Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care for clients referred by therapists, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. Prescribe and monitor medications, and long-acting injectables, ordering diagnostic tests, and manage medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Collaborates closely with therapists and multidisciplinary teams, participates in program meetings, and offers general consultation as well as support during crises. Coordinates hospital admissions and inpatient care when clinically indicated. Conducts field-based visits for clients unable or unwilling to attend clinic appointments. Ensures accurate documentation and compliance with Medical Board of California, Department of Mental Health (DMH) standards, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements. Actively engages in case reviews, provides psychoeducation to clients and families, and supports quality improvement initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

1. California State Physician and surgeon's Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California
2. Completion of a residency approved by an American Specialty Board in psychiatry or Equivalent training which the appropriate American Certifying Board formally recognizes in writing as being equivalent
3. Valid DEA License
4. Maintains Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) certification to prescribe Clozapine.
5. Evaluates individuals/clients to determine if probable cause is met to initiate detention under WIC 5150
6. Bilingual English/Spanish strongly desired
7. Maintains own professional liability insurance and acceptable child abuse and criminal clearances required
8. Current California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.
9. Prior experience in community mental health (preferred)
10. Demonstrate medical/clinical leadership skills and experience in mental health service delivery to a broad-based individual and multi-cultural patient population including homelessness and addiction
11. Effective verbal and written communication skills
12. Possess good computer skills; familiarity with MS Word and Outlook; demonstrated ability to utilize electronic progress note system
13. Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.

  • Job Type: Full-time / Pay: $240k - $355k per year / Schedule: 8 hour shift Day shift On call / Work Location: North Hollywood, CA 91606 / Languages: English and Spanish (Strongly Preferred)
