The Job/What You’ll Do:

The Psychologist conducts a clinical review of member assessment and evaluation documentation to determine if an individual meets the criterion to be determined as seriously mentally ill and severe emotional disturbance (SMI and SED) in accordance with AHCCCS criteria and requirements.  

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct a comprehensive and timely review of member assessment and evaluation documentation to determine SMI and SED eligibility, including identification of further assessment needs as appropriate.
2. Render SMI and SED eligibility decisions based on clinical documentation review (70%).
3. Conduct a face-to-face interview with an individual if there is disagreement with the initial evaluator’s diagnosis. Participate in informal conferences as appropriate regarding SMI and SED eligibility decisions (20%).
4. Maintain communication with other agencies on behalf of the organization and members (10%).
5. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

3-5 years of experience in the field
Specifications: Behavioral health; serious mental illness determinations or related experience, experience with child populations
Active Licensure by the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners
Fingerprint Clearance Card
Ph.D. or Psy.D., Required
Specifications: Psychology or related field
