📌 Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified Diagnostic Radiologist for a high-volume, onsite weekend assignment in Long Beach, CA. This is an inpatient hospital-based role with strong emergency department exposure.

This position is ideal for a radiologist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable reading a broad range of studies independently.

🕒 Schedule Details
Weekend Coverage (Onsite)

Saturday & Sunday

8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (10-hour shifts)

Minimum of 2 weekends per month required

There is another radiologist onsite from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. However, the primary expectation is that you:

Read everything that comes in during your shift

Leave no pending work for the next radiologist

Be comfortable managing high weekend volumes

Shorter shifts may occasionally be available, but the greatest need is full 10-hour weekend coverage.

📊 Case Mix & Volume
Average Volume:

Weekdays: 130–140 reads

Weekends: 150–180 reads (high volume)

Annual Productivity:

Approximately 14,000 wRVUs per year

Modalities Include:

MRI

CT (higher volume)

Ultrasound

Plain films (higher volume)

Not Included:

No Nuclear Medicine

No Cardiac Imaging

No Breast Imaging

⭐ Highly Preferred: Prostate MRI interpretation experience
🟢 Preferred: Body Imaging background

🚨 Emergency Department Expectations
Providers must be comfortable reading everything that comes through the ER, including:

Adult emergency imaging

Pediatric trauma

MRI and CT studies

While pediatric radiologists are part of the broader team, they are not routinely onsite during weekend shifts. Therefore, weekend radiologists must be comfortable with some pediatric trauma overflow.

Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology

Active, Unrestricted California License

DEA Required

BLS or ACLS Certification

Minimum 1+ Year Diagnostic Experience

EPIC Experience Preferred

Ability to read high-volume ED cases independently
