Job description
Clinical Responsibilities
Inpatient & Outpatient Care
Independent management of HPB surgical oncology patients
Pre- and post-operative patient coordination
Comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning
Ordering and interpreting diagnostics
Prescribing medications, therapies, and equipment
Patient and family education
Referral coordination when needed
Procedures
Wound care
Drain care and removal
Assist in OR as needed (prepping, intraoperative support, closure)
Team-Based Care
Collaboration with surgeons, RNs, navigators, and multidisciplinary teams
Acts as a clinical resource and liaison across care settings
Participates in rounding, care coordination, and program development
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Inpatient-focused coverage
No call
Requirements
NP or PA with surgical oncology/HPB experience
Active MN license (required; IMLC acceptable only if it provides MN)
Board Certification required
DEA required
Ability to practice independently within scope
Strong inpatient surgical oncology experience preferred
Practice Setting
Acute Care Hospital – Abbott Northwestern Hospital
Inpatient Surgical Oncology + limited outpatient coordination
EMR: Epic
Trauma Level: Adult III / IV
