Thoracic Surgery APP Needed in Los Angeles (Will license PAs only)

Start: April

26-week assignment with the option to extend

• Cardiothoracic or Thoracic experience would be a fit. Locums will work on the inpatient side of the team. Team rotates inpatient/outpatient, Locums would only do inpatient.
• Day in the life: Round with the team, get preliminary plan for the day from Residents. Residents will communicate with the attending and then they will give the APP the final plans for day. The Locums will discharge patients, plant/remove chest tubes (lots of this- big part of the job. MUST HAVE Experience in this), notes, orders, consults. Preop patients to go over last minute questions/concerns. Afternoons: Managing patients on the Stepdown floor.. Not working in the OR at all.

• Will take PAs or NP.
• Experience: 2 years required in cardiothoracic or thoracic surgery. MUST have experience in chest tube removal. Clean background required.
• 26 weeks length
• Reason for opening: 4 APPs on the team, one just resigned.
• Patient population: Lung cancer, esophageal cancers is a large portion of what they see.

Interview process: Teams

Do they need to do any procedures, what kind? Is it just pre and post op care? Chest tube knowledge removal (this experience is big for the role). That is it.

Full time- 4 10 hour shifts, Monday - Friday. No weekends, no call, or nights.

Credentialing: 90 days for full privs. Temp privileges can be requested and get them started within a couple weeks, if they have clean background, CA license/DEA and NPI and all other things in hand ready to go.
