Setting: Level III Trauma Center / Inpatient & Surgical

Position Type: Full-Time Locum Tenens

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SURGICAL & PROCEDURAL CARE

Surgical First Assist: Provide high-level assistance in the OR, including deep and superficial tissue closures, hardware application, and other actions delegated by the surgeon.

Minor Procedures: Perform outpatient surgical acts such as tendon repair, wound debridement, incision and drainage, needle biopsy, and k-wire/hardware removal.

Fracture Management: Execute closed reductions of fractures and dislocations, percutaneous pinning, and the application of braces, casts, and splints.

Therapeutic Interventions: Administer digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and therapeutic injections (joints, tendons, trigger points, and bursa).

DIAGNOSTICS & CLINICAL EVALUATION

Diagnostic Imaging: Order and interpret X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, bone scans, and EMGs.

Clinical Assessments: Perform compartment pressure measurements, electrocardiograms, and comprehensive physical examinations.

Care Planning: Formulate and implement therapeutic treatment plans for hospitalized patients; dictate histories, physicals, and discharge summaries.

HOSPITAL & EMERGENCY OPERATIONS

Orthopedic Call: Serve as the primary orthopedic contact for the Emergency Department and various inpatient units.

Patient Management: Conduct hospital rounds and write clinical orders to support the orthopedic surgical team.

Call Rotation: Participate in a comprehensive call schedule including weekdays, weekends, and 24-hour shifts as required.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Work Week: Sunday – Saturday (Full-time availability required).

Overtime: Paid for all hours worked exceeding 40 per week.

Logistics: Lodging is fully provided and coordinated by the facility.

SUBMISSION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Board Status: Board Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) [REQUIRED].

Licensure: Active Oregon State Medical License [REQUIRED].

Medical Staff Criteria: Must meet all criteria for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional privileges.

Documentation (Required at Submission):

NPDB Self-Query Report (Must be active/recent).

CAQH Login/Password (Required at time of offer).

Technology Proficiency:

4 hours of unpaid EPIC training is required (Testing out is available in 2 hours).

Must be proficient in concurrent EMR documentation and care management.
