JOB SUMMARY: TRAUMA HOSPITALIST (ACNP / AGNP / PA-C)

We are seeking a highly skilled Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a Trauma Hospitalist role covering May through July. This position is ideal for an APP who thrives in a high-acuity environment and is capable of functioning as the primary attending for a diverse patient population.

POSITION OVERVIEW

ROLE: Primarily focused on trauma rounding, with intermittent ED consultations, trauma activations, and bedside procedures.

SCHEDULE: Full-time night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).

SETTING: Level I Trauma environment (Adult and Pediatric patients).

SUPPORT: Work autonomously with 24-hour on-site Trauma Surgeon support and specialty back-up.

PATIENT LOAD:

Rounding: 10–14 patients (Non-ICU) or 6 patients (ICU).

Admissions/ED: 2–15 per 24-hour period.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CLINICAL MANAGEMENT: Provide daily rounding and comprehensive management of all patient conditions (this service does not utilize general hospitalists).

EMERGENCY RESPONSE: Respond to ED Trauma Alerts and manage ER admissions.

PROCEDURES: Perform or assist with ventilation management (Invasive/Non-invasive), chest tube insertion, central/arterial lines, and minor suturing.

ADMINISTRATIVE: Facilitate patient discharges and maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

CERTIFICATION: Board Certified ACNP, AGNP, or PA-C (No FNPs per trauma guidelines).

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year of inpatient APP experience, ideally within Trauma, ICU, or Orthopedics.

LICENSES: Active Minnesota license and DEA (verbal confirmation required at submission).

LIFE SUPPORT: Current ATLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications are required.

VETTING: Must provide a recent NPDB Self-Query Report (pulled within the current month).
