About The Vascular Surgeon Position
The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School is seeking a full-time vascular surgeon to join our Division of Vascular Surgery and help build our growing practice at one of our affiliate hospitals in Kyle, Texas just outside of Austin. Ascension Seton Hays in Kyle, Texas, is a regional hospital with 24/7 emergency care. It has been certified as a level II trauma center and a primary stroke center. Ascension Seton Hays campus is a destination for specialty care including heart and vascular, musculoskeletal, plastic, and neurological surgical care. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Vascular Surgery and must have completed an accredited vascular surgery fellowship or integrated residency. This position is ideal for a candidate with several years of post-graduate training who is seeking an outstanding opportunity to build a unique practice with strong support from partners within a thriving and collaborative Vascular Surgery Division.
The selected candidate will become part of our expanding Vascular Surgery Division and will have the opportunity to engage in a robust clinical practice covering the full spectrum of vascular diseases. The practice encompasses the full spectrum of vascular disease, including aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, carotid disease, end-stage renal disease, and venous disorders. The role also includes active involvement in medical student education and general surgery resident training at Dell School of Medicine and Dell Seton Medical Center, with shared call responsibilities among members of the Vascular Surgery team.
Essential Functions
• Continue to grow the robust Vascular Surgery practice at Seton Hays, a busy suburban hospital and a Level II trauma hospital.
• Deliver high-quality clinical care, participating in on-call coverage, staffing outpatient clinics, managing perioperative patients, and responding to daily consultation requests.
• Actively contribute to the education of medical students and general surgery residents.
• Build and strengthen partnerships with referring physicians, hospitals, and ancillary care providers in Austin and Central Texas.
• Assist in developing the data and evaluation infrastructure needed to routinely assess clinical quality metrics and patient outcomes.
• Participate fully in departmental activities and comply with all departmental policies and expectations.

Required:
• Medical degree from an accredited medical school;
• Current Board certification in Vascular Surgery (or board eligible)
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain prior to appointment);
• Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment;
• Outstanding clinical teaching skills;
• Innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence;
• Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills;
• Eligible for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Dell Medical School at UT Austin.
Preferred:
• Experience delivering care through a multidisciplinary team; as well as an interest in driving scientific inquiry and clinical/translational research.
