Paramedics prioritizing treatment and resuscitation efforts on-scene instead of during transportation to the hospital has shown better outcomes for patients suffering cardiac arrest, according to an observational study. Transporting cardiac arrest patients during the resuscitation process could negatively affect the quality of CPR or hinder other best practices.

Navigating the intricacies of cardiovascular surgery

A research team out of South Korea is making strides in cardiovascular medicine with new advancements in surgical technology. Scientists have developed an attachable guidewire microrobot that can reach precise locations inside blood vessels through magnetic steering. Further research and development efforts are still in progress. However, compared to existing methods, this new technology is expected to decrease the time of cardiovascular procedures while improving success rates by enabling surgeons to work with greater speed and accuracy.
